The Position:
The Associate Teacher assists and supports the classroom teachers in creating a warm and caring environment for young children. Assists in the maintenance of equipment and materials and ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas.

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7:30am - 6:15pm. Schedule may or may not include summer hours depending upon center enrollment and staff position. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs, but will not exceed 1,000 hours per year.

Education and Experience:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with at least 9 credits in early childhood education/development, including at least one 3-credit course in child growth and development from a regionally accredited college preferred.
• Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to obtain certification.
• Experience with infants, toddlers, and pre-school and kindergarten age children required.
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.

Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to teach in a team atmosphere with high energy, flexibility, and patience.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.
• A strict adherence to confidential policies is required.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• High degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity and to serving the needs of a diverse and inclusive community with diplomacy and tact.
